Ok so im new to the forum as of to day and also new to owning a Scout as of yesterday. I live in lakeport CA been working on old fords for most of my automotive live. So I found a 72 Scout 2 in redding for $650 it has very little rust on the out sides a little under the body frames good and it only has about 40,000 on it, it seems to be stock. The problem is the kid I got it from had a wiring problem I have a couple ideas but im not shore the cab gets power but nothing to the engine bay as of ignition so im thinking its could be a bad starter solenoid or a short. But it wont even crank. Also the idea I have with the Scout is to fit 33 in tires to 35in tires so a list of things to save up for would be great. Thanks for all the help been reading your forum for the past week to see if the Scout was the way to go for me. You all seem to have a lot of love for these bests and that's what made me decide on the Scout thanks

By far, the most common issue with the electrical gremlins on these rigs is the bulkhead connectors in the engine bay.

Take some time to read through many threads in the electrical and the ignition sub-forums and you will find this issue discussed over and over.

Yea been in side between rain storms lol the kit I got it from told me it was running then one day just cut out and nothing. They went throw the ignition and all under the dash and nothing... Lol thanks for the help it looks like it might have stopped raining

I cleaned the heck out of my bhc's with electrical cleaner, but if I jiggle the connectors you can tell it still wants to interrupt the system. I have it on my list to permanently address that issue.
