Help with my electric rear window switch needed

I believe that I finally found the source of my electrical draw. It's coming from the switch in the tailgate for the electric rear window. Yesterday I went to drive the truck, as I do every day, and the battery was dead. :skep: when I hook up the battery charger, I heard a buzzing sound from the truck. It was at the tailgate. When I put the key in and wiggled it, it would come and go. So apparently, if I don't get it in just the right position, it has a slight draw that kills my battery. In the short term I think that I'm going to put a switch on the main power line of the circuit. But for the long term, is there a replacement for this part? I want to know before I take it off and dissect it.

Thanks everyone!

Sounds like you need part number 424374c1. We don't have any and they are no longer available from Scout light line. I see that a few other Scout light line dealers including Isa's IH show that they have them but I would verify their availability as I know the supply long dried up.

Man I love this place! :smile5: thank you for the timely and informative response. I'll check around now that I have a part number and proper description. I have yet to dissect mine, so it May be ok, I'm not sure. I just don't want to tear apart something on the assumption that repair components are readily available.

I am wondering though, my problem seems to be that the key doesn't "re-center" when you release it. If the springs that do this are separate from the switch, I'd guess that I might be able to replace them or tweak them. Then maybe it would work right. Or is it common that the switch itself is bad? Has anyone ever used a different switch in there?

Thanks again!
