HELP! I've fallen and can't get up!

I have a bit of a problem with my dash wiring harness. Here goes:

1977 Scout II, 345 2bbl., 4 speed with D20 TC. P/S, P/B no A/C, no C/C.

I purchased a dash wiring harness from one of your IH competitors back east (SSS). I took out my original harness and started to install the new one. Everything matches up just fine, wire for wire. My problem is this: when I turn the key on -no start, nothing. With the key in the on position, I can start the engine from the remote solenoid on the firewall. It runs just fine. I can turn off the engine from the ignition switch (turn the key off). I traced all of the wires to double-check my work, everything is fine - except I have two wires, both #17 coming out of the wiring harness near the loom nearest the ignition switch. My original harness has the same two #17 wires. For the life of me, I do not remember where these two wires went! FRICK!

When I turn the key to the on position, one of the #17 wires has current, the other is nothing. I am guessing these two wires go somewhere under the dash as the original #17 wires are about 4-5 inches long. #17 connection.jpg#17 picture.jpg#17 Connector.jpg

From the looks of the schematic, automatic vs. manual trans, the wires are routed to different places. Anyway, I would appreciate any help.

As always, thanks.

Because you have a manual transmission there is no neutral safety switch so a wire gets looped to make the connection permanent.
