H4 Conversion Headlights

I bought a set of the h4 conversion headlights (rch100) and with the rubber/gortex boot they aren't a direct fit. Does the boot go on from the back? Does the light assy need cut? I didn't want to break anything trying to force them.

The site/box says:
"simply unscrew the headlamp bezel, remove and unplug your old sealed beam headlamp and replace them with these. It's that easy!"

what am I doing wrong?

First off sorry to take so long to get back with you. On the headlights you are doing nothing wrong. We have heard from a few customers who weren't able to get their headlights in without modifying the bucket. It seems some of the headlight buckets have a smaller access hole and prevent the boot from going on. Four simple slits to the headlight bucket at the opening and then a slight bend outwards normally does the trick. Hope this info helps.
