Gauging Intrest 73 Travelette

This thing needs to go at this point, and is now on craigslist as well.

Details are as follows.

1973 travelette 1210 2wd Dana 60 rear, 304, at,ac, pb, ps, all complete.
The good
over all very straight body, almost no cancer, 2 tiny spot starting in the windshield area where they all rust, but fenders, wheel wells and cowl are all in great shape, one dent in the passenger tail light area that was shoddily repaired.
Interior is complete and in pretty good shape, it is missing the headliner but can be gotten new through Jeff for surprisingly little.
Dash in good shape and working am radio still in tact. Basically all the lights even work, the ac is present but someone removed the compressor.
The motor runs great, but has a few needs that are listed below
it has very clean paper work and has not had too many owners. 89+++ miles and honestly a very straight truck.
One of the straighest front clips I have ever seen, even the bumper is really straight.

The bad
the brakes would need to be gone trough, it appears at least a booster but I would just replace the whole system.
The motor runs great, needs a carb rebuild from sitting, it basically leaks fuel out of the dried up gaskets, the exhaust system needs to be redone, it was cobbled together, and obviously the fuel tanks would need to be boiled out and perhaps the lines, I haven’t explored those yet. The reason this thing was parked was a bad fuel pump, so that still needs to be replaced.

My thoughts are $1700 obo. I am not sure how willing I am to go down in price as I said I really am not sure I want to sell to being with. Also open to trades, pretty much anything IH. Would love to get a nice tractor I have more pictures upon request.

Edit: I do have the rear tire for the truck just need to pop it back on the rim.

Edit #2 I have decided that it needs to go, new price 1700 obo

shoot me a pm or call 916-871-8914
I could transport it if need be for the right deal.

Ok guys, deal fell through on this thanks to the economy. I've had a few calls over the last few months and want to let everyone know this is back up for sale at 1900 obo. Thanks give me a shout if you're interested.

New price $1700 obo and I do mean obo. Wanting it gone! Hitting craigslist soon and maybe even ebay.

I'm personally loving this truck! :yesnod:

a travelette is second on the list to a 4wd Travelall, despite my wife's viewpoint on crew cab trucks. I've been mulling this one over for a few days now. But as usual, no matter what I do, I can't figure a way into it right now. :mad2: lots of logistics to work out first. But mainly, I need to sell my car first before I could seriously consider it.

One quick question; are the two zip codes assigned to this truck transferrable, or would I need to get new ones assigned? what's the wheelbase on that thing anyway? Might be longer than Dad's 34' conventional travel trailer!

Yeah it's really long, which is great for towing, not so great for tight parking spots. I personally love the travelettes I think they are the best of both worlds, room for the family and a bed to haul things. Like I said if I didn't have the f350 and 4 other projects this one would be staying part of the herd. I honestly bought it to keep it, but you know how it goes.

Not sure on the wheel base, but this is how it looks on my 18ft trailer.

For anyone who is interested here is a link to a folder with all the pictures I have of it.

I believe the wheelbase is 164" for the 1973 model year. It definitely drives like a schoolbus in terms of turning and parking, but it's an extremely stable vehicle for towing.:d

Ok guys, time is getting short! I need this gone before the wedding (not to mention could use the cash :ihih: ). If you're on the fence let me know, I'm sure we can work something out!

Seriously need this gone, $1500 takes it. It is on cl and going to ebay this week. Somebody get this thing and give it the love it deserves.

Remounted the rear tire this weekend. Could not believe what a difference that made in the stance of the truck. I have to retract my statement about the front leaf springs needing to be re-arched. It is sitting nice and level. Good to go!! Someone come get this thing. Going to take some more photos of it sitting properly on all four this week. Lots of interest but no cash yet.

Come on guys!! 2 weeks left before the wedding help finance my honeymoon!!! $1500 and this thing could be yours!

I can't believe the folks back east ain't jumped on this pile Chad!

We just used an outstanding shipper to send a t'all from leaburg to coastal georgia last week, arrived two days ago. He's gotta totally amazing hydraulic car hauler (6 bay) and can self load into the rear bays using a winch.

That t'ette sure would look nice back east where everything similar has rotted away!

Somebody better buy this truck. I was very close to owning the damn thing, but furloughs have kicked my ass financially. I have seen this truck in person, the pics don't do it justice. It is very straight and has very little rust. It's amazing to look down the side of the thing and see how straight it is, especially for a vehicle as long as it is. Wouldn't take much to make it a daily driver as Chad stated. I hate to think that someone else will get this thing :icon_cry:
