Gauges semi resto

I thought I'd take a little time to freshen up the look of my gauges this weekend. I took them apart and polished the lenses as well as paint the needles.
I also changed the speedo from the original '73 to an earlier '72 speedo. I thought it looked cleaner without the kph numbers above the mph. Plus it goes to 120! I'm sure I'll need that.

I masked off the gauges to paint the needles. I just used some fluorescent orange from home depot.

I know, the black parts still have rust on them. This is only a semi resto, I just wiped them a little to get the flakes off. If you wipe too hard the white screening starts to smudge. Other option is to get the white gauge overlays from ebay. I May do that in the future, just not right now.

Here's the final look, they were pretty scratched and dirty before, now the needles are all orange and the lenses are clean and clear. I also like the '72 gauge better, without the kph numbers. Bonus- all the gauges work, yay!

While I had the gauges out I also cleaned all the contacts for the lights and connectors and smeared some dielectric grease on the contacts.
