Gasoline bladder/whatever

It's that thing attached to the gas tank near the filler hose. I think mine has sprung a leak. How important is this? Can I just remove it and cap all the fittings? I think it has 5 hose connections going into the gas tank. Pictures tomorrow.

That is part of you evap system, Jeff should have hundreds of them laying around. They are pretty improtant for collecting fumes and vapors returning them to the tank.
