Gas Tank Questions

I am in the process of rebuilding my '75 Scout II XLC. I dropped the tank and noticed several rust holes in the top of the gas tank. I noticed that the new poly tanks come either with or without emission fittings. Considering that I am building a "non-emission" Scout, is there any advantage to installing a tank with emission fittings and plugging the unneeded ports? Such as going from carb to TBI? What are the pro's & cons of poly over steel tanks? Is there a source for OE steel tanks? FYI, I currently have an Edelbrock 1405 but am seriously considering going with a Hamilton TBI. Full disclosure, I may get her running and through break-in with carb and switch to TBI with my next round of funding.

The current situation:
75 Scout II XLC 4x4 (engine out, tub coming off in ~1 week)
345 bored .030 over
Isky 256/262
4BBL Spread Bore
??Carb or TBI??
Stans Tri Y Headers
727 Torqueflight

Hi,

The poly tanks are not the worst, but they aren't the best, compared to the OE steel tanks. If you are looking for an OE tank, we currently have a refurbished unit on the shelf ready to ship https://www.ihpartsamerica.com/store/UP-417519C1.html

As for emissions vs. non, the emissions tank just has extra ports for the factory equipped vapor recovery system. One could plug these ports for future use, in your instance a fuel return port for fuel injection.
