Front brake upgrade: D30 10" drums on D27?

Ok, I've been debating doing the front disc swap on my '63 Scout 80 w/d27, however, after a lot of searching and thinking I'm not up for a major $$$ project. While researching brake upgrades on the d27 I did some reading on an early cj site where a lot of the j**pers have swapped to 11" front drums with a lot of success. The bonus is that it's pretty much a bolt-on affair and provides improved braking over the 9" drums.
I have found a 71 Scout 800 with 10" front drums that could be had for much less $$$ than the disc swap plus I've already upgraded to the cj drum/drum mc. I have also upgraded the rear axle with a d44 from another 800 and it has 11" drums. My question is, would the upgrade from the 9" to the 10" front drums be significant enough to go thru the trouble? And would the brake backing plates from the d30 bolt right up to the d27? Or am I going to have trouble with bearings, hubs, etc...I'd just do a whole axle swap but the 71 has a 304 so I'm guessing it doesn't have the 4.27 gears I would need...would like your opinions.

Thanks,
ernie
