flex plate info...?

Hey guys im putting together a 72 Scout II with a 727 tf auto trans and not sure if I have the right parts.... The flex plate I have is supposedly from a 73 with same motor package but the torque converter holes wont line up tthe flex plate holes and when I rotate it it comes close but the the tc isnt centered ? Also does the nub from the back of the tc have to make contact with the end of the crank ? Thanks

The torque converter mounting plates and the flex plate will only line up in one position. That is the standard process for these assemblies and maintains the designed-in balance of the entire rotating assembly.

Turn the flex plate until all four holes align, one of the mount pads holes is slightly closer to the tc centerline than the other three.

Don't forget to slather each of the crank mounting bolts with a sealant before installation or you will end up with a major oil leak issue.
