Greetings! This is my first crack at this "forum" stuffso I'll get right to it. I have recently become the proud owner of a 79 terra,304-2v with 4-speed. Engine has points distributor, 37 amp alt and new Holley 2v installed. Stock 44's with open difs and3:54 gearsets.my goal is to have a truck for mostly highway use with some gravel roads and dirt tracks. Camping, fishing trips, etc. Improved stock would best describe what I'm looking for and not embarassed to show up at a meet with. Where should I start?

It's possible that engine May have been swapped in from an earlier application (or at least the igniton system has been swapped out which is common), breaker point distributors were phased out on the Scout II platform starting in 1974. Doesn't mean there is anything "wrong", we just want ya to start off on the right foot with details for what you have, (not what anyone else has!). It will make a difference when we need to help you with questions/service.

A 37 amp delcotron was a oem production unit (code 08130), the "service part replacement" was a higher output unit (either 42 amp or 63 amp), that really doesn't matter at all as long as your charging system is up to snuff.

I'm not too concerned about the engine's orgins as long as its a solid base to a refresh/rebuild on. Brakes, steering, elec are what I'm working on at this time. I do drive it fairly often in the local area so safety first. I do have a few general pics in an album if you care to take a look sometime. Experienced critique is valued. No "velvet glove" comments either. Straight up is what I'm looking for. Thanks for the knowledge.
