Extra Ports on Long Block

Hi Folks, I bought a crate 304 long block for my 1964 C1200 Travelette and it has extra unused ports on each side that I do not need. The only port I need (I think) is one on the driver's side where the oil pressure line taps in and runs to the oil pressure gauge on the dash. There are two more on that side and two or three on the passenger side. I think these ports are for emissions equipment for later trucks than mine. The odd thing is that the ports appear to be coarse thread and I cannot thread normal port plugs into them. Does this sound familiar to anyone? What should I use to plug these ports?

Photos would be very helpful in answering your questions. There are many "Ports" and threaded holes on a SV. Some are oil gallery ports, some are water drains and others are simply bolt holes.
Drivers side: below the freeze plugs are 4 X 1/8 NPT plugs/holes those are pressurized oil ports that are in the main oil gallery. There is one 1/4 NPT port to above the 3rd oil plug, that is a coolant drain. One on each side of a V8 .

Robert, sorry for late response, but I got pulled away from my truck by the annoyances of life for a bit. I do not need to post photos this time because you expertly and completely answered my questions, but I will next time. Thank you so much. Is that teflon tape on those plugs in the photo?

No worries, thanks for getting back to us.
It is a LocTite thread sealer and locker. I use it mainly to seal head bolts that end in the coolant jackets of more popular engines but it works great on all threads.
