enigine mounts for a 327 chev engine

I am installing a small block 327 Chevy engine in my Scout 800a. Does anybody know whether I will have to make my own engine mounts or if someone sells them?

Doing an alternative engine install in the IH platforms will be a "from scratch" effort. There were never any "adapter" kits for these rigs as they were never popular amongst that crowd.

Also, the Scout 800 four cylinder chassis/engine mount/radiator/firewall doghouse, etc. Is considerably different in execution as compared to the Scout 800 originally equipped with a 266 or 304 sv motor.

Lots of difference in the offset of the crankshaft centerline as compared to the chassis centerline between the I-4 and sv versions also. Steering gears and columns are also different.

Can it be done? Sure! That's what hotrodding is all about! But it ain't gonna be a an ez "kit" kinda deal!

The Chevy engine mount is a very simple one to fabricate. I attached some photos of the standard GM v8 mounts on a 32 Ford frame I built. Note the plate on an angle and the tube below it. That is all that makes the mount specific to a sbc or 409 in the case of the picture. You only need to build the stabd off from the Scout frame rail to the mount end detail. This style of mounting will except any of the truck/passanger car rubber mounts of the style shown used from the 60's to the when the ls generation of small block was introduced. The rubber mounts are availible in two heights. That is not a concern to as you will be building the metal work to fit your application.

The flat plate above the tube is not really necessary but helps during placing the engine in to the car. The tube is the attach point.

You can buy a mount kit but you will have to modify it some to fit the Scout so I always build my own.

I used these when I stuffed a bigblock into the 800, they will work fine for a 327. I did have some gussets on the frame mount. You can also re-drill the mount to offset the engine if you need to.

Although you can fabricate your own mounts ihon does sell a motor mount kit for both small block Ford engines and Chevy. The kits are made by advance adapters and retail for around $145. These are not shown online so you will need to call if you would like to order a kit.

I just bought a pair of advance adapters motor mounts for a sbc to Scout II. They will require very little modification but they were only $120 shipped threw summit racing and no tax cause they are not coming from inside calif. Thats an $8-9 dollar saving over buying them here in calif from adv. Adpt. Direct.
