Ok - I am new to IH and new to actually posting in forums. So please excuse and mistakes I May make.
So, I am in the process of specking out a Scout 80/800 for a build. My problem is I am not a huge car / truck guy. I am only doing this build to have a daily driver and something to take kids to ice cream store in town. I also plan on making some short trips up to 8 hrs round trip. I currently have a 5.7l v8 w/hemi in my ram 1500 and lllloooovvvveeeee it!!! Did I mention I love it?? Well I am looking for an engine to put in the Scout but I also do not want to break the bank. Need something that is very reliable yet also has some getty-up when I want it as well as to show off from time to time. Plan on haveing 5 speed manual trans in it.
So, I have been presented with these options to pick from. Your thoughts on which one and why would definitely help.
Used 350 GM vortec vh 320hp,
new carbureted 350cid/350hp $3000,
new carbureted 383cid/450hp $3800,
new carbureted 350cid/300hp $2650,
used ls1/ls2 350hp 80-120k mile $4200,
new ls1/ls2 380hp
please -- which one and most importantly why.
