Engine transmission connectablity

I have a 77 Scout II that I am frame off restoration. I am putting a ramjet 350 in and am trying to figure which transmission to put in? The 700r4 I was told would not work since the trans cable would not work, is this correct? Are should I try to go with the nv4500? I would prefer to stay with an automatic if at all possible.

Any suggestions would be great.

A "resto" would involve keeping all oem systems intact. You are talkin' a "build" here not a resto.

And using several different aftermarket at shifters from B&M/lokar/speedway/hurst/etc. Pretty much a no-brainer as they have both cable and rod-actuated options in many cases.

It would be superez to simply "disguise" an aftermarket shifter as a sii part.

Thanks for the info. Let me restate my questions. I am doing a rebuild on an 1977 Scout II with a ram jet 350. I was told the 700r4 transmission throttle cable would not work with a fuel injected engine. Ie. The shifting would not shift or down shift with the throtle. Does this make more since?

Thanks

Lokar makes a universal adjustable that will work for what you need I used one on a tpi with a 350 trans excellent product
