Engine Tick

Hello,
I am new to the forum and new to scouts. I just bought a 74 Scout II and the engine makes a ticking sound. I was told that this is normal for scouts. I could not find any information on this. Could some one please direct me to a post that answered this question or answer it them self. Thank you
 
A "tick" in the engine is not a normal ihc occurrence. But is certainly is an issue we find on motors that have not run in a long period of time and are then brought to life.
