Engine Break In

I put a rebuilt 345 into my Scout II using the guide from this site.the engine fired up and runs smoothly. I searched through the site looking for engine break in procedures but did not find any.
What are the break in procedures for a newly rebuilt 345?

Does it have a new cam?

Did you following the instructions from the cam mfg for "breaking in" / "running in" a new cam? (caveat, maybe this is not done anymore?)

probably many different ideas on the subject...

Personally, for the first 500 miles, I would drive so that it does not run at the same rpm / speed very long (short freeway / back roads). Do not drive it to bakersfield and back at 70 mph to break it in.

No lugging / no wot throttle from a stop... Of course this is not what happens to a race engine...

After 500 miles, drive more normal, but I would still try to vary speed on long freeway runs.

Probably different opinions on first oil (and filter) change -- 1000 miles?

Fwiw - here is the break-in procedure from the owner's manual for my 73 t/a:
