Electric fan for Scout II (and w/ A/C)?

I've recently read reports of an electric radiator fan installation improving fuel economy mpg by about 1-2 mpg over a stock mechanical fan and thermal/viscous clutch. My Scout's cooling system currently works quite well, and I'm not sure if it's worth fooling with an electric fan, especially when I'll be running an a/c setup in the future.

I can't say what the difference has been on mine as a working speedo would be needed:sosp: I've changed tire sized too so that makes it a lot harder for me to guess at. It's a fact you gain a couple horsepower, but does it really matter that much on something that gets in the order of 10-12 mpg. FI would give you the biggest back for the buck on mpg. The problem with the Scout and using an electric fan is the clearance needed. The second problem is size of the stock radiator. About the only fan that will work is the Mark viii but is got a depth of like 6.25 inches ouch!! I used the viper fan, as it more like 3.75" but the shroud does not fit as most car's and truck's use a 19" tall radiator, plus most are wider then they are tall.

Where does this leave you? Without moving the engine back or the radiator forward I don't see how you can use an electric fan. Maybe a dual fan might fit?
