Ok, as I stated earlier, this is the carb I have, still in the box, had it over a year. I was going to a 4bbl manifold, but couldnt get one. I have a 72, with a 304 in it. Being that is been over a year, the place I bought it wont take it back. So is it an option to just keep this, and buy an adapter for the original 2bbl 304 manifold? Is it even worth doing, I really do not want to go thru the trouble of trying to sell this carb, etc.. But I need to take the hand me down Holley off my Scout.. It was a loaner originally, but has been on the Scout over a year..was supposed to be temporary.

I realize that this new carb, and the use of an adapter, etc, is kinda wasted money, but just figured I mind as well use what I have sitting here..

Any input will help, thanks guys

Just find a used 4bll intake (oem) then if you want you can still put on the rpt manifold at a later date.

He has the 304 engine, no IH 4 barrel intake manifold was made for the 266 / 304.

I have seen aluminum intakes for sale in the classified ads from time-to-time. You might try searching the ads.

Personally, I would not take the time or effort to try the 4-to-2 adaptor. But, I would buy a 0-7448 Holley 2 barrel carb to replace the carb you have now.

I see lots of those edelbrock carbs on the 345 & 392 engines.....maybe because they are shiney? I hear they are very tuneable.

Don't try a 2>4 barrel adapter. They don't work worth e shit. As recommended earlier see if you can find an rtp aliminum 304/266 manifold.

Ooooooooor stick with the 2bbl. The 304 won't pick up much.

The 1406 is a bad choice anyhow. The primary barrels are really to big for low speed throttle responce. Holley makes a nice small 4 bbl (390 cfm) 390 cfm four barrel street carburetorpart #: 0-8007upc #: 090127001486. More than enough carb.

Watch various boards for used Holley projection set ups... They run $300-700. Newer ones are digital, but I've heard analog versions are easier to tune.
