Distributor contemplations

'68 1200C 4x4 V345E that I pulled out of a '72 Loadstar 1600. The distributor on this motor had a tach cable set up. In your opinions, should I counsider using this distributor, an electronic, or something different. I'm at the stage where there are options.

whats the condition of the distributor ? any shaft play ? or play any where you can see ?
if it checks out good-- i would keep it and convert it to a p tronix electronic ignition

That distributor from a Loadstar probably has a governor as well as a tack drive. I have this on my LS and haven't quite figured how it all works yet. There are some additional pieces on the carb for this system too.

No play whatsoever. 42k miles when I pulled it. Hadn't considered a governor but it does have that tach drive - I'll relook.
I did replace the intake however with a spreadbore & will probably turn to a 600 now that gas is a little more affordable!

in that case i would run that distributor with either new points or some kind of electronic conversion ---- iv had excellent luck with ptronix
