Dana 27 vent

I am going to help my brother do some maintenance on a recent Scout 80 purchase. I'm assuming that it has Dana 27 axles, if so, where would the axle vents be located ?

It is a small hole in the axle tube in the rear side of the tube. You can usually I’d the location from a build up of oil residue and crud.

Thanks Robert.

Another rookie question, why does this diff cover have two fill positions ?

If you run a lot of lift, it is advantageous to rotate the rear pumpkin so the pinion points at the output of the transfer case allowing you to run a CV type u-joint at the transfer case end of the driveshaft. This lowers the fill hole and raises the pinion bearing. The higher fill hole allows more oil to be added to compensate.
