Dana 20 front output shaft assembly?

Hi all. I've got my Dana 20 t-case torn down for a rebuild out of my 74 Scout II. Case no. is C18-15-24-6. When I was disassembling the front output shaft I noticed there was no snap-ring. I have a master rebuild kit on order which will arrive this week. When I reassemble the front output shaft the IH service manual Page 8 no. 10 calls for: Hold shaft into position and install bearing cup (5) rear bore of case (12). Install front output shaft bearing snap ring (42). There is no mention of installing front output driven gear thrust washer. Take a look at the pictures I've included. If I was to install a snap ring there is no room for the thrust washer. Also in the pictures there is another ring. When disassembling I think that ring fell off when I removed the front yoke? For the Dana 20 t-case were there different assembly parts for the front output shaft? I'm not sure if prior owners of this Scout had the t-case serviced. All that I know when disassembling the gaskets almost appeared to be glued on, or maybe that's how the gaskets get after 47 years? As always everyone's input is always appreciated.

My memory is a little fuzzy on the exact details, but some Dana 20's had the snap ring, and some didn't. Reassemble yours the way it came apart and you should be good to go.

I just rebuilt my spare D-20 transfer case. It didn't have a snap ring. I have rebuilt another one out of a 74 scout, and it didn't have a snap ring either

Jeff & Scooter, thanks for the advise, it is reassuring. Going by the shop manual I was confused. I have started reassembling as it was. It's 1/2 finished just waiting on a couple parts to arrive.
