Dana 18 Transfer Case Missing Something

Hi everyone, hoping someone could help me out on this one.

I have finished draining my transmission and transfer case on my 1964 Scout 80 rcs, and I am replacing with valvoline vr-1 50w racing oil.

Filling the tranny was fine, but I went to fill my Dana 18 transfer case and it seems I am missing a part. I did not remove anything here, it's just an open hole that seems to go into the case. Doesn't seem like it should be empty, as it's threaded, and other pictures show a line running out of there towards the front of the vehicle.

Can anyone let me know what this hose is and where it goes? Thanks in advance!

Jeff is correct. That hole is for the speedometer. We should have the parts you need but they will be used. Best to call our sales department for pricing.

Thanks guys! I have a bin of spare parts, let me see what I already have and then I'll get the rest of the parts!

Ok, went rummaging through my parts bin and came up with this. Fits into the speedometer hole and seems to match up with the gear inside, so I am guessing it's the right part.

I understand that I can buy a speedometer cable, but I don't know how the square drive hooks up to the cable, and what I don't know what threads into the transfer case to make it stay.

Does anyone have any pictures and guidance? Thanks!

You're missing one more part that we will have used that threads into the hole after you insert the gear you have shown. And we do stock the speedometer cable.

Expecting the threaded insert today from ihon, I'll install and post pics for everyone. Thanks for all your help so far!
