Hey fellaz, is there anyone who can give me some tips on what power steering system I should use in my 62 Scout 80, it has a Chevy 350 in it. This is new ground for me so would it be good as well to change the column also? I dont know what would be compatable. Thanks!!!

I have seen guys use the universal steering columns like summit sells. But I don't know the length. Just I have seen 80's and 800's with them at nationals. Pretty nice with tilt and grant steering wheel.

I'm not sure of the fab work to put a ps gear on one. I have seen them done. I wonder about a rack and pinon set up from a mustang.

Problem is mounting locations and box size. I have seen several Ford ps boxes on 80's but they are mounted outside the frame and require a little bit of fab work on the front clip as the box extends outside of that.

I have recently seen a small saginaw ps box mounted in around the same place as the original ross on an 80. No fab work needed but for the mounting plate. The access to the bolts was tight according to the owner and he needed a snapon type 22 clicker wrench on a couple of bolts. The travel arc on the wrench was severely limited. This saginaw had a little more than two turns from lock to lock.

I was curious if anyone had tried a mustang rack and pinion?
On a Scout 80-800-II.

It might be too light. A lot of racers use it along with tractor pullers use that set up.
