Control Arm questions

Can anyone confirm that the dimensions (widths, etc) on the upper and lower control arms from a 1974 1/2 ton pickup, are the same as a 1974 3/4 ton?

I want to swap a complete 1/2 ton front suspension onto a 3/4 ton pickup. Initial measurements seem to confirm my suspicions but other opinions are valued.

Will be doing the same thing with the real axle. In both cases, I will be keeping the beefier sway bars from the 3/4 ton.

Thanks!

Okay...

The 3/4 ton has a 1"taller frame but the location where the control arm brackets mount to the frame are identical, at 5" in height. The bolt hole locations are identical between the two suspensions, so that shouldn't be a problem either.

Unless there are other suspension interference issues from other components, I can't see any obvious issues... Guess it depends on where the frame gets wider on the 3/4 ton.

Thoughts?
Anyone?

The 1974 model 100 has the fa5 front axle (code 2005), while the 1974 model 200 has either the fa6 (code 2006) or fa7 (code 2007) front axle. I surmise the fa6 was the 3/4 ton model and the fa7 was the one-ton model.

What do your line setting tickets say for the front axles for these two trucks?

The part numbers for the upper control arms and the lower control arms as well as the upper & lower ball joints are different between the 1/2 ton fa5 and the 3/4 ton-1 ton fa6-fa7.

The coil springs and the steering knuckles have different part numbers for each axle: one each for fa5, fa6 & fa7. There is also another coil spring for code 3280 "heavy duty" front springs.

I could only guess that they are the same dimensionally and could interchange.

As you have one of each truck, your measurements and eyes-on availability have me at a disadvantage.

The 1/2 ton has a fa5 front suspension but also has the 3280 hd coil springs.

The d200 has an fa7 front suspension but nothing on the front coils...

What I want to accomplish is swapping all the front suspension components from the 100 to the 200, so I am assuming that as long as the mounting locations, control arms dimensions and bolt hole locations are the same, it's doable... So the d200 will have the fa5 suspension and the d100 will have the fa7 suspension.

Rear frame widths are +/- .25", so I am hoping to put the d200 Dana 60 with 4.10 gears (8 lug wheels) in the d100 and the Dana 44 with 3.54 gears (5 lug wheels) in the d200.

Thanks
