Hello all preparing for the nv 4500 swap. I finally found a 95 nv 4500 dodge gas trans so I can mount up my cj7 Dana 300. However I am now wondering about the rear output shaft on this Jeep tcase as I have recently learned there are 2 different length output shafts the short version like the Scout version Dana 300 and the longer version off a Jeep like I have.
-I am wondering if anyone has swapped the shorter Scout Dana 300 rear output onto a Jeep Dana 300 with the longer output.
-researching this I have found that the longer shaft is weaker and more prone to break. The longer shaft is supposedly machined thinner to accept the jeeps speedo gear. *( I am not sure if this is true?)
-I would also like to keep my current speedo gearing as it is the correct ratio.
-I am not sure if this swap is needed to insure durability as the Scout is much heavier than a cj7?
-anyone have experience with this or links to a write up I have searched for a few hours now....
Thanks,
brandon
