carburetor stalls at idle

hello,
I have a 1968 1200C with the 304 V8. i rebuilt the Carb not too long ago, fixed the timing since it was at 35 degrees past TDC (i put it at 7 for now) and now the engine idles nicely at 600 RPM but any acceleration causes it to stall. Any help would be appreciated Thx.

Make sure the mechanical and vacuum advance in the distributor are both functioning properly.

ok i will check that, i worked on the carburetor and i found out that the activation lever for the accelerator pump was bent and not activating properly. i fixed that and the only problem now is a slight backfire if i really mash the throttle from idle which could be from lack of timing advance
