Something doc and I have been mulling over for awhile

cal scouts
the purpose of this organization is to unite and coordinate International Harvester-oriented clubs in the state of California. The activities of this organization would be gatherings and shows beyond the usual scope of a local club. [such as Sierra Fall Rallye or western regional gathering or ?] In today’s political atmosphere, it May also be necessary to participate in political action to save our access to back country.
This is an organization of clubs. Individual members belong to their various clubs. The clubs belong to “cal scouts” clubs have their own officers and dues. Clubs contribute state dues which are used for state wide business and support of club activities of interest to all members. E.g.: a bbq at my house would not be state supported while the Sierra Fall Rallye would be.
Rights to logo remain with “cal scouts”. Clubs May use “cal scouts” logo with permission.
A board of directors operates the organization. The board chooses its officers: president, vp activities, vp finance, vp communication. Organization officers meet on line and/or by conference call. Face to face meetings can be held at state activities such as tulare or IHSFR.
Each club elects a director to represent the club. All club business pertaining to the organization is channeled through the club’s director.
State activities: gatherings, shows, liaison with national orgs [simta, ihcc] And other state orgs [ca4wd] Neighboring state orgs [IHSTO, sonora desert scouts]

how about a name?

I can certainly see this being a "west of the rockies" kinda affiliation! And...I'll be quite honest...in the "rest of the world" (west of the rockies), anything associated with the term "California" has a somewhat negative connotation, most especially in oregon and idaho! That would be a no sale to our group...no doubt about that!

Same for using the term "Scout", that is exclusionary and turns off those who don't mess with scoutstuff.

It's not my decision...but I would pose to the IHSTO board and see what they think. But keep brainstorming the name!

The concept would definitely add "creditability" to IH-related special interests groups if all would get on board. The entire IH community is extremely tiny in comparison to other vehicle interest niches.

Don't know. Just seeing what the possibilities are up your way, michael. We are going to have a dinner soon and if doc is there we can talk about it futher.
