Build-Up & Clean-Up

I’ve been meaning to get something posted on the IH only site for some time. I guess you could call this a build up but having owned this ’75 Scout for over 28 years it’s also some restoration as well. It came down to the usual areas of rust over the fenders. I met with Jeff Ismail and determined that the top was coming off and both rear fender panels were to be replaced. By the time I drove back up a couple of weeks later we found need of a new rocker panel on the passenger side, a roll bar, 5” shackles, and a host of other repairs that only an IH expert like Jeff would know to point out and be able to repair.

After reassembly, a coat of paint on the new steel and a polish of the rest of the paint the old girl looks better than when I bought it in 1979! The truck was with Jeff for no more than a few weeks and he was always in touch with me as the project developed. These projects always provide the unexpected surprises and a water cooled check book would be a great thing to have. After I got the truck back I took it to death valley in March. Every thing worked fine and now I May go back and talk to Jeff about that front shackle reversal after all. For now I’m gonna drive it and we’ll see you at the Binder Bee in July.
