Brake pad ear too wide

New to me '74 Scout II 4x4 with front discs, assuming factory. Caliper style with the allen screw retainer for the key and spring. I purchased rotor and pads from here, but the inner pad upper ear is too wide to fit in the recess on the upper caliper mounting bracket. The lower ear fits fine in the lower mounting bracket recess. Do I have to grind down the ear to fit, or is it the wrong pad? Also, there was no anti rattle spring on the lower ear of the removed old pad. Is this some weird setup? More likely the po just didn't install the spring, but figured I would mention it.
Thanks

Some of the better new pads come that way. It is ok to grind the tabs. I believe the wider tabs fit a newer application. The ebc pads in my Scout came with instructions from the manufacturer to grind the tabs. If you do a good job they won't rattle.
