Brake drum removal

I am having difficulty removing the brake drums on my 64 c1100 pickup. I have the service manual and after reading through that section it mentioned a procedure for some setups where a stud cutter is used to remove material at the base of the studs in order to separate the drum from the hub. How do you tell if that is what is needed? I have removed the axle but and locking tab washer and backed off the adjuster for the shoes considerably and it won’t budge at all still.
 
Today, I pulled both of my rears off. One came super easy and the other I had to put some PB Blaster around where the axle joins the drum, let it sit for a minute or two and then gently tap the back of the drum with a small hammer. Took a few minutes, but the thing did come off.
 
This weekend, I will attempt to pull the fronts off. I say attempt as they look to be securely attached (aka rusted beyond recognition).
If they break, I may end up with a disk brake conversion. :O

Can't get the front ones off. They look original :O
Got a buddy with a plasma cutter coming over. :O
