Brake Combo Valve

Hi, I have the IHPartsAmerica brake proportioning valve.

How does the reset button work? I took the dust cap off and there was a bit of brake fluid in there and the button is flush with the surrounding surface. Does that mean the valve is centered?

Picture please, IHPA sells a few different proportioning valves. If the switch is reading open, the switch plunger should be centered. Don't believe it is a "reset" button per se. Probably a relief valve that lets you re-center the plunger if you lose the front or rear brakes due to a broken line.

Thanks for the response Hondo. You are correct.

I disassembled and then found a diagram from the manufacturer on line. The button is on a spring that sets pressure for when front brakes activate; the button only protrudes when the rear circuit reaches pressure and compresses spring allowing flow to front brake.

I did not find a description, but the button could only be a reset if the valve was stuck in front brakes open position.

So all I got for taking it apart was an education, and now I have to bleed it:icon_rolleyes:
