Borgeson Joint Install

I just purchased the lower borgeson joint. And have a install question. How far are you supposed to slip the yoke over the input shaft of the box? Is the yoke supposed to grab both splines on the input shaft?

If I push the joint on the shaft too far the joint binds on the smaller portion of the input shaft. I guess the simple answer would be to not push it on the shaft so far.

You got it. I just put one on my 800's steering gear. You're not supposed to put it on so far as to cause binding. But, I don't need the maximum articulation it's capable of so I positioned it just enough to grab both splines without sticking too far in the joint.

Just cut off that smaller portion of the input shaft. Then put on the joint, you want as much of the input shaft in the joint as you can after all we are talking steering here. The last thing you want is for it to fall off
