body off suggestions?

My 72 Scout was from east texas so there is actually minimal rust for its age. No cancer spots but it was definitely used as a mudder. Has anyone pulled their body off? I would like to pick it up and pressure wash the frame and drivetrain and just clean it up and re-undercoat the bottom of the body but has anyone done this before? Is it worth it? Or would I be opening up a new can of worms?

I'm wanting to do the same thing kinda, I've just been brainstorming and thought of sliding steel beams between the body and frame in the front and back that go out past the wheels on each side and use 4 jacks, one on each end of the beams to lift the body and just roll the frame and everything out from under it. Don't know if it will work as planned but I'm going to try it

Yeah that sounds like it would work. But right now my Scout sits on a 9" lift so I would have a hard time finding jacks to go that high. And there's no way I'm going to use four hi-lifts! Lol

If your budget allows purchase a gantry crane. Harbor freight sells them for a fairly reasonable price and if you wait for them to be on sale and use a 20% off coupon that they advertise in most offroad magazines you can score one for way less than you could build one.

Well I've got an 8 inch lift and I was thinking of stacking like 3 cinder blocks at each end of the beams and lifting with bottle jacks on the blocks? I don't know, just sketchy ideas lol

Yea I don't know if I'm going to do a body off yet. I might just put simple green and pressure wash the undercarriage and re undercoat it and put new body bushings on. Plus my garage is a little too small for me to fab something up to pull the body. As it is with a 8.5" lift and 35s I brush the top of the garage door.

Xnay on the cinder blocks. The have been known to suddenly crumble and collapse under load. Wood blocks would be better.

Another option is a big tree, tie a large branch off to the main trunk and use a chain hoist to lift the body.
