• To ALL forum users - As of late I have been getting quite a few private messages with questions about build ups here on the forum, or tech questions about your personal project. While I appreciate the interest, sending me a private message about these topics distracts from, and undermines the purpose of having a forum here. During the day I wear many hats as a small business owner-operator and I work tirelessly to provide the absolute best service possible to you, our valued customer. When I created this forum I rounded up some of the best minds I knew so that any tech question you might have could be asked and answered by either myself or one of my highly experienced moderators, this way the next time this same question is asked the answer can be easily found and utilized by the next IH enthusiast having the same question. This allows me the freedom to run the day to day operations of the business and minimize the impact to shipments and shop activities that these distractions can cause. It is of the up most importance for me to complete the daily tasks in order to best take care of you our customer, all the while providing you a forum to get the level advice and input you have come to expect and deserve from the premier IH shop in the country.

So with that I ask that anyone with a question about one of our build ups or a general tech question to please use the forum as it was intended. I am absolutely available by telephone to answer your questions as well but at times may direct you back to our website to better field your question or questions. Most other private messages I will be glad to answer for you.

    Thank you for your understanding.

Binder Bee 2015 needs new leadership

I visited my ranger buddies this morning at the forest service in cj. McGrew’s is open for special events use only. Base camp would be in O’brien.

Google The McGrew Trail

There must be some type of permit process then. I should acknowledge that I was incorrect in my prior rant about the McGrew closure by attributing the closure to the BLM. The USFS is in fact the agency which oversees that trail. My opinion on the closure remains unchanged, no matter which agency implemented it.

A group from Klamath Falls is running the trail this weekend for Father’s Day. They have reserved the trail for years.

Fees are nominal, but lots of red tape

I just stumbled on this thread. We attended the Binder Bee in 2010 and 2011. Antique Powerland was a pretty cool place to be at, but it is quite a drive from the SF Bay Area/Sacramento region. Medford/Grants Pass is a much easier drive from here, as I find the section of I-5 between Grants Pass and Springfield to be not very enjoyable to drive (did it twice this past summer).

I am located in Southern Oregon and would be willing to host an event if we can get enough interest. We have a local off road group here,I am not affiliated with, that may be willing to host that type of event. I would host a scenic Crater Lake drive and show. If there is interest in the Medford area, I would be willing to help as well so it could stay on the I-5 corridor. Every time I take out my Scout I get thumbs up from other drivers, it would be nice to find similar minded people in the area. My wife and I went to the Fall Sierra Ralley several years ago and had a wonderful tour of old stagecoache stops and cemeteries rounded up with a great lunch. Let me know if there is any interest. We used to be with the IHSTO, but it looks like that group is gone, at least their website doesn’t seem functional.

Is this offroad group you speak of made up of Binder owners/enthusiasts? I was a longtime Medford-ite until about 5 years ago. I still have a few Scout owner buddies down there. The whole time I Lived there, I always wished there would have been an active and organized local Binder club, but it never materialized. We had a quasi-group that we dubbed "Southern Oregon Scouts" (SOS), but it was never a formal organization as there were only four of us locals in the "club". It was more of a joke or novelty than anything else, except that we did organize two trail runs which managed to entice a handful of IHSTO members from their Northern stronghold down South to join in the fun.

I am located in Klamath Falls. I am not affiliated with any groups, off road or others, and I have no idea if the local off road group has any Scouts in it. I just thought they may be willing to host a group of scouts if we asked them. My scout is strictly on-road which is why I only offered to lead a group to Crater Lake or something like that. I have been involved with many different types of groups over the years, and they always end up with a few people doing most of the work until finally someone gets Tired and wishes to do other things and the group disbands (not trying to be a Debbie Downer here just stating the obvious). It would be nice to get a large group of IH enthusiast together and have some rod runs, I feel that shows pride in your product and a willingness to share with other people other than a car show which I find boring after doing them for so many years. I like seeing vehicles on the road and people having fun, who doesn't like ice cream, right. If we can get a few local IH vehicles in our area to do some close by runs perhaps it will grow into something. Andy Frei

I live in Philomath, not too far from Brooks. We have a car show in a park here. I bet I could find out who to talk to and make something happen - Philomath is pretty awesome to work with.

OSUBEAVER-If this is something you would like to run with, go for it. I have a most of the stuff used to put the show on and would be happy to pass it on with no strings attached as to how it is used. I will be at the meeting this coming Thursday at Elmer's in Salem at 6pm if you would like to come and talk about it. It would be great to see an Oregon show again.

If you would prefer to talk on the phone, send me a private message or email with your phone number and the best time to call. Salem is a bit of a drive from Philomath.
