Bellhousing ID help, please

Hi y'all. Had a customer a couple weeks ago swapping in a 345 for a 258 in a '71 or '72 Scout. He has a 3 speed currently. All I had to offer him was a couple of 4 speed bells, that probably won't work, according to the books I have available. I did however have this one on the shelf. It was in the Scout/Jeep section in the trailer, right next door to the dodge section. All that is on the tag is "1978 6 cylinder 11" clutch 3 speed". Helpful, huh?

What I know (or fairly sure I know):
1- we assume it's Scout because it's cast iron.
2- it's from a 1978, apparently. :d
3- we had a lot of Scout II's, and we had a lot of 1977 cj's.
4- both Scout and Jeep used a 258 inline 6 made by amc.
5- we have two Scout v8/slant 4, 4 speed, bellhousings that measure 9" deep, this bell is approximately 7 1/2" deep.
6- Scout 232 and 258 bells' are different.

I didn't think Scout offered a 258 in the late 70's. I think they offered the Nissan 6 cyl diesel, but I know we never had one of those.

I had a thread on pirate4x4, someone suggested I join here and post up, if I can at least determine it's not IH, then it's going in the bin. Jeep parts aren't worth keeping :d
thanks!!
