Hello all! New to the binder world and new to the forum. Been perusing various topics and appreciated the knowledge and support. I look forward to being able to pour back into this once I learn a little more.
I've picked up a 1970 Scout 800a with the 232 and 3sp tranny. Body is in mostly good shape, other than about 4 spots that have some rot. I'm going to start with the rear wheel wells/bed panel. Please see the picture below for reference. Both sides have this kind of rust pocket.
What I'm wondering is: where do I start and stop on this rust patch? I have not poked through to see how far the rust goes on either side...but from this point it would appear that I could just trim out the rust and weld in new diamond plate? Any guidance or info would be greatly appreciated!
Our main goal with this Scout is to be road friendly and Sunday drive-able, not looking for a show quality build.
