Hey guys I have a 73 Scout ll my Scout has the Dana 44 rear and the Dana 30 front I had a friend give me a 70 International truck with a Dana 60 rear with a factory locker and a Dana 44 front (its the Dana 44 no one likes open or closed I cant remember) my question is how hard will this swap be I really want to run bigger tires then I have now (33") and I want to get rid of that 30 in the front. Thanks for your help in advance!

If its a closed knuckle front, not worth the effort. Open knuckle, well then its up to you. A d44 is (for the most part) a d44, but particular years have harder to find parts than others.

Plus you'll be looking at spring-over, steering modes ect.

Need alittle more info on your truck, the doner truck, you and your plans.

I believe it is the closed knuckle my Scout is a all around vehicle I drive it daily but I also want to add 35" or so tires it has a 345 v8 gonna leave that alone for a while but I need to upgrade the running gear first and the 60 and 44 are free I really want to just unbolt the 30 and roll in a 44 if that's possible

Sorry I do not know much about the oh truck yet going to get it tomorrow so when I know more about it I will post

Not as easy as rolling out the d30 and rolling in the d44. Lots of fab work involved - I'd schedule the truck to be done at least a week if you could work on it non-stop -- or 3 weekends if you have to go that way. That is if you have all your parts lined up ahead of time and nothing goes wrong... And you've done a ton of research and know what you are getting into.

I would also never waste my time and money swapping in a closed knuckle d44. Just not worth it. Wait for an open knuckle disc brake d44 to come your way.

Hiw much lift do you currnetly have? Your going to need more for 35's.

4" springs and 3" body lift will do it. Or SOA and body lift and/or cutting.

Only strait swap: Scout II d44. But you'll also need brake uprades (assuming or going from drums to discs), the correct u-bolts and plates, and of course to make sure the gears match... But with 35's your going to want to be running 4.56's or atleast 4.10's... So assuming you didn't drop gears with the 33's.....

Ok so the Dana 60 is under the Scout yeah!!! New problem it has the inboard drums and I dont want it to what can I do? Friend of mine says I can just get Dana 60 drums from junk yard and convert it to inboard hubs I am hoping its that easy....any help would be great!

the 60 is off of a 71 1210 pickup with a full floater dually rear end

Count the number of bolts holding the axle into the hub in the rear. If it is 6 you have an International axle, which can't really be swapped around with anything other than an International.

If it has 8 bolts you have something else -- which might be able to be swapped.

But let me make sure I am reading this correctly. You swapped in a dually rear axle and now want to convert it to a single wheel setup? Without finding single wheel hubs and cutting off the brake brackets and rewelding them back on in the correct location - it would be way easier to find a single wheel axle to start with.
