We tend to only focus on the negative - so I'd like to start a thread giving positive review of a few places that I have done business with that have done me right.

Rules:
1) no IH related businesses.
2) only local businesses that you can actually go to.
3) no internet or online places.
4) no negative reviews! If you've had a bad experience with a place some one posts as good, you can comment on that -- but no bashing just for the sake of bashing.
5) keep the chit-chat to a minimum just in case some one actually wants to view this thread...

he worked on my diesel, injector pump timing and valve adjustment, and was totally honest, talked to me for quite a while to figure out what I needed. Fair price and fast turn around. One of there mechanics has a sweet Scout which is a bonus!

they replace the muffler on my Scout and 'fixed' the tail pipe that I had hacked together. Fast work and looked sharp!

lucille's rocks!!! It is a little crappy building, independent tool store - with everything! If they don't have one in stock they can get it. They usually have a professional level item and a cheap version of everything. And if you are lucky you will meet lucille, she is a real person. I have been buying most of my tools, of all kinds, from them over the last 4 years. It is cool to talk to the guy that owns the place and helps all the customers and knows his customers.

Kenny is the manager/owner - he is about my age and rocks. He May not have the lowest price but he will not charge you for something you don't need. He has worked on all of my vehicles, and I have not been disappointed.

I am tough to please when it comes to autoparts stores. These guys are the best in hillsboro, by far. The guys have tons of experience. One guys is a wheeler, the machinist is an IH nut (hal steward, he has been to a few club events) and the rest of the guys know what is up.

Napa auto parts in philomath

Jeff there really knows his stuff! He will look up anything I ask, and if he can't find it, he will call other stores to see if they do. He even called up mr. Scout, as they have ordered things from him in the past. The store is small, but the service is excellent. Best of all, they bought a 61 Scout last week and it's sitting behind the shop! now that's what I call cool!

#1. Clackamas auto parts on main street in oregon city. They will look up anything on the net or in the books. They also have a great machine shop. Mm likes all the Holley stuff hanging on the wall.

#2. Napa across the street from clackamas. Usually good help, but it depends on who is behind the counter. A former napa employee now works with me. He is a great resource and owns old iron, as well. Not IH iron, but old iron.

Key motors on hwy 213 in molalla. Typical creepy junkyard dudes but they will let you wander all day through their amazing collection of truely antique cars. Nash metropolitan anyone?

I got all my springs for green from there. They had them torched off and ready in no time. I didn't mind though, the collection of packards kept me busy.

Decent prices too.

Here are some shops I have used. All of them have provided good value for the $$$.

Allison transmissions--pacific torque in seattle pacific torque inc: allison transmissions; detroit cummins transmissions and parts Pt is owned by former allison employees. What they don't know about allison transmissions isn't worth knowing.

Cummins injection problems--ron's diesel pump service, 369 fish pond road, kelso, wa 98626, 360-423-4806 ron used to work for cummins nw. When the longview shop closed he purchased their test bench and went into business for himself.

Tires--t&t tres, 603ash st., kelso, wa 98626, 360-577-8473. They feature cooper tires. They will work on split rims. Their prices, quality, workmanship, service, and warranty as good or better than most other shops or chains.

Kent's custom diesel, longview, wa, 360-575-8884 kent really "knows" 2-cycle detroits. They stretch, shorten, and reframe trucks.

Jarvis truck sales, toledo, wa 360-864-4477 jarvis has people who really "know" small cam cummins. They also do warranty work on detroit, cummins, and cat engines.

Lee's lineup, inc., 104 w. Main st, chehalis, wa, 360-748-0219 the only place to go if you have to have something lined up. They are particularly good with solid front axles and 4x4.
