For those of you who couldn't make it to the dinner, here's what you missed….
We had another good turnout. Over twenty IH enthusiasts were in attendance: marty, cary, doc stewart, dave p., ron cole, amel cole, rob, ramone, jayson, pete, Craig (cheese), stacy (sponsored by Joe), Joe (stacy's sponsor), benjamin, another pete, Mike, zeke, kate, vance, chris. Sorry if I missed anyone, there were a lot of new faces.
Old business:
IH sierra fall ralley non-treasury report – cary says we are in good shape with the ralley expenses. We will probably only be $100 or so short. We will pass the hat at the next dinner to cover the difference. Expect it to be about five bucks each. If there's anything left over cary will order business cards.
Ralley kids activities will include a coloring contest, a scavenger hunt and ice cream at the yurt.
Members of the Ted onas family will be at the ralley to help us celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the Scout.
Pre-ralley work day - cliff has invited us back to his shop for another work day. I believe this will be scheduled for two weeks before the ralley.
T-shirts were distributed at the dinner. They look nice and are bound to attract attention. (hey, is that a Bronco????)
cal 4-wheeler membership – nothing new.
B.a.b.s. Family picnic – dave p. Got the info on reserving a site at quary lakes. It turns out that the only available date is the weekend between the pre-ralley work day and the simpson's bbq. We decided to postpone the picnic until late May so as to spread out our activities a little.
Simpson's bbq – still on for October 1st. 12:00 noon until whenever. Karen and marty will provide hot dogs and beans. Bring a side dish and beverages. Due to the recent increase in the number of b.a.b.s. Members, karen says that this event will be "weather permitting". We just don't have enough room inside the house for so many people if it rains! I'll start a bbq related thread in the forum.
Annual Christmas toy run - thanks for reminding me cary, I guess it's time I started getting going on this. Damm, has it been a year already?
New business:
road rally/day trip: there was still a lot of interest in doing a destination run. I'll start a thread for this in the forum.
Vance is going to hollister this weekend. Hook up with him if you want to go.
Doc stewart is going to host another scouts west tour of death valley in the spring. If you've never been to death valley, you owe it to yourself to go. It is truly an amazing place.
Ron cole is doing some research on a historical trail that he wants to run. Sorry ron, I didn't catch all the details from way down my end of the table. Ron will post up a thread on the forum with the details.
Misc:
this will be our 5th anniversary IH sierra fall ralley.
Dave p. Passed around a photo from our first ever meeting.
It looks as if we have just about outgrown our meeting place. Who would have thought that, even as recently as six months ago. Boy, these internets and Craig's list thingies are really catching on!
