Are these the widow-makers?

Hi,

are these wheels the dreaded split-rim widow makers everyone says should be discarded or are these the safer lock-ring rims still used on larger trucks today?
Are these rims safe?

Commonly a widow maker would be a rock stuck between a set of dulles. Split rims are mostly dangerous to tire changers.

Or a tree cut wrong an lodged in another tree ? Them aren't the worst wheel's steve.but it doe's take a experienced tire man to break them down ! Don't let no kid do it, unless he's been taught hy a "ole dog ". Jeff

You have the budd style disc wheel with lock ring. A split rim is just that, the rim (wheel) is 2 piece

for large wheels, like those pictured, I don't think tire shops have a problem with if the ring and the mating surface on the wheel is clean without Gouges, severe rust, and no distortions in the ring or wheel. The top picture shows a damaged lock ring and you will need another
