ok I did the deal, bought a 73 w/title (going to dmv today)
it has some good and some bad.
Thinking about a tub/engine/tranny swap from my 79 to this frame and just taking the best of both, altough both are good.
The one im takin ; the were in the process of a frame up rock crawler build and the frame is done! It has a nice spring over, new 4" superlift springs, 2" body lift with new body mounts too.... Front end, rear end and transfer case are rebuilt, all brake lines, ball joints and tie rods are new, frame is clean and fresh paint, nice stuff !!
The one im trading ; needs both quarters (dents, or just replace or straighten rear corner area) rear (bed) floor rusted through in spots, front floor is real good, the engine (345) is a tough start but they say it ran 2 years ago before it was parked in a field ( I belive them, Rich folks no reason to lie), a pull start got it going but rough running and died (May just be bad gas), could probably get it running good with some work. The front metal is all good (no rust) except one fender (dent), top is good, 5 speed (my 79 is auto and I like that so want to switch motor trans)
the body (on the one im trading) is actually decent both quarters have big dents at rear (does not affect inner bed), I just dont have the room to do the work. The seats are all pretty darn good (, no rips, front is bench) tilt column, front floor, hood and fender all good, engine/trans (5 speed good, they say rebuilt), top good, grill etc.. Good, I May swap one door mine has a small rust spot at bottom
my problem is space I dont have facilities for that, I May be willing to give the whole remaining truck w 79 title (w non-op filed, no fees) to someone who would be willing to help with body and component swap at thier place. What do you think? Do you know any Scout guys around here that May like that deal?
