As I am getting into rebuilding my Holley 2 barrel I know the procedure is pretty simple and I already got my rebuild kit direct from Holley, I have ran into a few questions to help me along and kind off give me a good base where to start here.
First off my carb IH number? 442163-c91. List number-6391-1
my build of engine stock bore 266 none emission, contoured pistons, compression ratio 8.4, isky split cam 190125-26, ported and gasket matched intake and exhaust ports, planning on headers and 2 1/4 exhaust. Just a k@n air filter, stock valve sizes. I am running a petronix ignitor 2 with msd coil, stock style plugs in her.
On a note of what I am looking for: my truck will be used for heavier towing most off the time with some regular street-highway driving in between. My towing weight 10,000 average plus truck weight so good mid power and toque is what I am looking at for the towing duties.
Now my home elevation ranges from 1500 to 2200, my farthest towing up north elevation change will be around 6800 to 7000
my carb now is set up with 54 main jets. Is that a good ball park for my build and power range? Any suggestions on where to start or is that pretty decent? Up down??
new power valve is a 6.5, the big question I have is what cam works best for the accelerator pump? Which color works best to start with and in the 1 or 2 position? I have the assortment pack off them lol stock says 218 I think its white?? Should I stick with that color?
Thanks a ton everyone in advance, I don't wont to be spoon fed everything but I am not sure to where to start at lol hopefully someone will shoot me in the right direction or give me some pointers on settings. I wouldn't mind settling in the middleish for elevation range if the gaps to big?? Let me know what you guys think. My rpms on the highway will prolly be around the 3200 3700 range with 4:88 gears.
Il take suggestions on even what other guys are running at there elevation to get an idea off jets and tuning
