After several years of waiting and arranging transportation, I finally got my Dad's old '72 1210 pickup home and away from the harsh environment of the farm.
The truck is a '72 1210 4x4, with a 392, 4-barrell Holley, tf727 automatic, NP205 transfer case, and air conditioning. It turned 100,000 miles two years ago, and the tranny went out at 100,500 miles, so my Dad parked it.
It was originally my grandfather's, my Dad and him swapped trucks about 1981, and I pretty much learned to drive in it and drove it a lot in high school (and I thought I was cool with such a rare truck, despite strange looks from other kids).
It will take a lot of work to get it back on the road. It has a huge oil leak, the tranny is shot (broken parts, no forward or reverese), the exhaust system is "gone", the drivers window regulator is broken, carpets are shot and the floor pans are nearly rusted through, seat is trashed.
The body is pretty straight, except the bed is rusted out since it had mud and dirt sitting in it in western washington for the last 10 years. The engine runs good, and is all original and intact.
First order of business is the tranny issue and some exterior clean up to help bring the already depressed home values back up a little after I parked the truck in the driveway on Sunday!
Here it is on the trailer in kalama, wa, where we discovered a slightly leaking right-rear tire on the trailer that resulted in a total flat two miles down the road as we tried to limp into woodland for any kind of service. The International and the trailer got seperate rides on roll-backs into vancouver thanks to aaa!
