Whoever has the idea that a Scout II 4x4 can't be used on the street as a dd or as a trail rig is full of crap!
A '71? With the 232 motor it May very well actually be an "Scout 810" the precursor to the Scout II the first year of production. Those rides are somewhat different compared to a Scout II, we've discussed the 810 quite a bit around here if ya do a search for keyword "810".
With an amc 232, the slushbox will be a borg warner with a d20 transfer case behind it. That is...unless someone has previously swapped the trans.
Ez to tell apart, a borg warner trans has a cast iron bellhousing and transmission case (two piece). A t-407 transmission option (tf 727) will have a one-piece case and bell, and is cast aluminum.
If indeed the transmission is a 727, it will use the amc bellhousing pattern, not the ihc version or the chrysler version.
