Im looking at at a 70 800 with the 232, 3spd std. The guy states it May need a timing chain and will not start. He says it (misfires) and it is a common problem with the 6 cylinders with high mileage when the chain stretches. Has anyone else heard this? Any help appreciated!!!

Doesn't sound right to me. A simple cam timing change like if the timing set is worn won't make it missfire. The engine May be down on torque but not miss. If it is engine miss wear related it is most likely a valve/compression issue.

But couldn't say for sure with out going through a few tests first.

Hmm exactly what my ol' man said. The complete truck has been gone thru pretty much so if its just going to be the motor not a big deal.....I cant resist haha
