800 Front Driveshaft Repair

I took the drive shaft in for an estimate to repair the worn out slip shaft and u-joints and was quoted $300 bucks. Is this out of line? I figured it would be $100 or so without the u-joints and $150 with new u-joints.

Outrageous in my book, that tells me they don't wanna deal with it. Must be nice to be able to pick and choose work to keep your doors open in these economic times.

I say it could be right in line -- if they are going to basically build you a new one. Driveline work tends to be pricey.

And it also really depends on where you go - the bigger the name the bigger the price.

I'd shop around and get a second quote.
