Hi! New Scout owner here-- dream car since in my 20s. Finally got my hands on one that is in "great" condition, minus the 50 years of dust, oil, etc. I have a parasitic leak somewhere and it has drained 2 batteries. I am not super mechanically inclined but know the basics and want to do as much work on this old beast as I can (i'm even taking welding classes
)
Long story short, a mechanic friend of mine took it around the block a few times, recommended to replace Cap/rotor/coil/plugs, etc. I pulled everything out and found corrosion and crack on the distributor cap, mice had chewed up the spark plug wires, more 50 year old residue on the breaker plate, wire casing to condenser fell apart in my hands. No big deal all replaceable and cleanable, so I took out the entire distributor cleaned it up.
Distributor is Delco Remy (stamped on it is 1110522 4C15, if that helps, so far it has helped me one iota).
I am reassembling and on the breaker plate there is an "L" shaped copper wire AND I can't for the life of me remember where it goes. Any help is appreciated. See photos attached.

Cheers! Happy Scouting!
