73 Scout grinding while shifting

New to the forum...…… I own a 73 Scout II, 345 V8, 4 Speed.

It grinds a little while shifting. Where do I check &/or add transmission fluid?

Pull the plug under the arrow. When full should just start dripping out. Passenger/right side of tranny. Drain plug is the lower plug. May want to check your clutch adjustment as well.

Usually what is described is a worn out syncro. With it in 3rd and you accelerate then decelerate, how much does the shifter move fore and aft? Much movement over an inch is indicative of wear.

I put over a qt of 80/90 & it seemed to do the trick. The oil that was in there was pretty ugly. (Caramel color)
