Just cleaning up years of grease from drive train from a 1973 Scout Does the rear output shaft seal the outward one I see there is one behind this one. Get installed backwards as i would call it the metal band with numbering on it going in first. Mine was when I pulled it out

yes, there's another seal. that one is to keep t-case oil in place. the other seal is the the trans output seal.

That is the adaptor that goes in-between the transmission and the transfer case.
The interior of that adaptor should remain dry.
There is a drain hole in the adaptor that should remain open.
If or when any fluid drains out that hole, you will know which seal is leaking
by the type of fluid that is draining out.
